India's best known 'art maestro' Maqbool Fida Hussain popular know as M.F Hussain died of heart attack at a hospital in London. One of India's most charmistic artist who had redefined art to a great extent, died at Royal Brompton Hospital. According to the Forbes magazine he was "Picasso of India" for his wide repertoire of works of art.
M.F Hussain started of his career in painting by hand painting bollywood film posters and joined the Bombay progressive artists group in the late 1940s after independence of India. The painting of this legend was popular all over the world and some of them could fetch over one million dollars.
In 1990s some of Hussain's work became controversial because of their portrayal of Hindu deities in the nude or in an allegedly sexual manner. Though the painting were created 10 1970s but become an issue in 1996 when they were printed in Vichar Mimansa, a Hindu monthly magazine.In response to that there were many protests from all over the country and eight complaints were filled against the Hussain .In 1998 he was attacked by Hindu groups like Bajrang Dal and his art works were vandalized. The attacks were endorsed by Shiv Sena leaders. Due to the attacks and protests the exhibition in London was lso closed.
In February 2006, he was again charged for hurting sentiments of Hindus because of his nude portrays of Hindu god and goddesses. The matter become so complicated that he left the country and was advised to never return home. In 2010, he falls under another controversy and this time it was one of his lesser known painting "The Nude Dude" which was deemed to depict an Arab Sheikh in a nude posture. Finally. he died the following year in London.

I completely agree with you that hindu's are not so broad minded...but talking about his creativity...he only targeted the hindu god and goddesses....he should have shown his creativity in fatima's painting or his mother's painting...in one of the paintings above why has he shown the muslim fellow fully clothed and the brahmin naked....also their is no evidence that he apologized or tried to explain what he was trying to show in these paintings.....he was fully aware of Indian people's mentality...no matter how famous he was...at the end of the day he was a person...and this was certainly a big mistake a vain person would make...surely he was unaware of the consequences...the one who is being appreciated all his life time might have lost his mind and thought he had the liberty to do whatever he wanted to....so i think its useless to justify what he was trying to show..
